The World Of African Nation Celebration/Exhibition
beads and beads works of kings and qreens
Detroit, MI August 11, 2004 -- The World Of African Nations Celebration/Exhibition featuring collections of rare beads from the Oguns African Bead Museum of Ghana and 750 photographs represent 18 African country's.
Kwabena Ogunlada research and photograph the Kings and Queens over a period of five years, the photos depict traditional beads and bead works worn by Kings and Queens and members of the community.
The 17 X 24 '' images have never been seen in the west, showcasing 18 country and over 100 cultural groups, titled African Kings and Queen's Royal Regale; A Living Tradition; 60 country have endorse this program including the African world, the Arab world and European Nations.
The first stop on this international journey begin in Accra Ghana at the Oguns Bead Museum, which is the sister museum to MBAD African Bead Museum in Detroit Michigan. The Exhibition/Workshop/Celebration will travel to five African Museums and numerous Cultural Center in the USA.
The first stop in the USA is MBAD African Bead Museum/ The American Black Artist in Detroit Michigan, from Detroit it will travel to Umoja African Arts Company/museum, The African Literary Arts and Development Associate, The Black Heritage Museum, Florida; Wisconsin Black History Society Museum,The Nubian Archaelogical Project etc.
The Ghana Education Service, The Ministry Of Education, The National Commission on Children Ministry of Women, Children Affairs and 60 countries participated in this first of its kind celebration/exhibition.
The first annual African World Of Nation Celebration is scheduled for Oct. 10-20 2004 at the main library in Detroit Michigan. Children will be able to watch bead making demonstration, using powder glass and clay, Ashanti Kenti cloth weaving , Dancing and a special performance by the international group Bambuti featuring Efe.
The children will have passports as they travel through the exhibition by county their passports will be stamped at each county. Also, will witness the instooling of a Africa Queen of beads in Detroit.
